Acid and Alkaline Phosphatase Dynamics in Soils of a Pifton-Juniper Woodland

چکیده

-Plant roots and soil organisms increase phosphorus availability by releasing acid and alkaline phosphatase. Organic phosphorus compounds are hydrolysed into plant-available forms through the action of these enzymes. Phosphatase is of particular importance under conditions of low phosphorus availability which is commonly found in pinon-juniper soils. Acid and alkaline phosphatase activities (mg p-nitrophenol released g-1 soil h-1) were studied at two research sites in northern Arizona. At monthly intervals, soil samples were collected underneath Juniperus monosperma canopies and in interspace areas dominated by Hilaria jamesii. In both juniper and interspace soils, alkaline phosphatase activities were significantly higher than acid phosphatase activities. Alkaline phosphatase activity ranged from 57.3 to 167.2 fl9 p-nitrophenol g-1 soil h(1 and was similar to values reported for acid farmfield and grassland soils. Acid phosphatase activity varied between 9.3 and 29.5 mg p-nitrophenol g-1 soil h -1 and corresponded to values in Juniperus occidentalis and a range of western coniferous forest soils. The results indicate that soil microbes are the dominant producers of phosphatase in the studied pinon-juniper soils.

A Total Ratio of Vegetation Index (TRVI) for Shrubs Sparse Cover Delineating in Open Woodland

Persian juniper and Pistachio are grown in low density in the rangelands of North-East of Iran. These rangelands are populated by evergreen conifers, which are widespread and present at low-density and sparse shrub of pistachio in Iran, that are not only environmentally but also genetically essential as seed sources for pistachio improvement in orchards. Rangelands offer excellent opportunities...

تاثیر اسید گالیک بر بیان ژن آلکالین فسفاتاز در سلول های عضلانی صاف دیواره رگ ها

Background and purpose: Vascular calcification is an important factor in pathogenesis of atherosclerosis. Studies have shown that alkaline phosphatase increases vascular calcification. Here we investigated the effect of gallic acid on alkaline phosphatase gene expression in vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs). Materials and methods: In this experimental study humans aorta VSMCs were incubated...

To evaluate the relationship of various P fractions and alkaline phosphatase activity with bean indices growing in 10 calcareous soils, amended with municipal sewage sludge from Chaharmahal-Va-Bakhtiari province, a greenhouse research was carried out. Soil samples were incubated for one month with sludge at a rate equivalent to 1% (w/w). Then, the P fractions, including P adsorbed by Fe and Al ...

Evaluation of the content of Zn, Cu, Ni and Pb as well as the enzymatic activity of forest soils exposed to the effect of road traffic pollution

The paper evaluates the contents of total forms of selected heavy metals (Zn, Cu, Ni and Pb) as well as the activity of catalase (CAT), dehydrogenases (DEH), alkaline phosphatase (AlP) and acid phosphatase (AcP) in mineral surface horizons of forest soils exposed to the effect of road traffic pollutions. The sampling locations (n = 24) were determined in the area covered by the Szubin Forest al...
